Description
Ixiaro (Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine) typically used to protect people 2 months of age and older against the virus which causes Japanese encephalitis (infection of the brain). Japanese encephalitis is caused by the Japanese encephalitis virus that is found across Asia, including many tourist destinations, as well as in northern Australia.

Ixiaro (Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine) is typically given as two doses. The first dose is given at the initial visit, with the second dose given 28 days later. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. It is given as an injection intramuscularly (into the muscle). WARNING: Like all vaccines, may not fully protect 100% of those who get it. It may not be as effective for people with a weakened immune system. If you have a bleeding disorder or are taking medications that make you more likely to bleed, tell the person giving you the injection. There is a risk of excessive bleeding where you get the injection if it is not done carefully. In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause flu-like symptoms, and general sense of being unwell. It may cause headaches, muscle pain, and tiredness. It may cause nausea, vomiting, and pain at the site of injection. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the vaccine or other components of the vaccine, allergic reaction after the first dose of , acute, severe infection, bleeding disorder. Taking this medication during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product.
