Description
Stalevo (Levodopa Carbidopa Entacapone) is an antiparkinsonian agent. It is typically used to treat Parkinson’s disease (a brain disorder that leads to shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with walking, balance, and coordination). It may also have other uses.

Stalevo (Levodopa Carbidopa Entacapone)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. May be administered with or without food. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Use with caution with patients with renal (kidney) problems. Use with extreme caution in patients with psychotic disorders (severe mental disorders that cause abnormal thinking and perceptions). Use with caution in patients with wide-angle glaucoma (a condition of increased pressure within the eyeball). Use with caution in patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease (an ulcer in the inner lining of the stomach). Use with caution with elderly. In addition to its desired action, Stalevo (Levodopa Carbidopa Entacapone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause dyskinesia (uncontrolled movements), nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain. It may cause reddish-brown discoloration of the urine, headache. It may cause muscle and/or joint pain, chest pain. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to levodopa, carbidopa, entacapone, or any component of the formulation. Use of non selective MAO inhibitor (antidepressants) therapy with or within 14 prior days, narrow-angle glaucoma (type of glaucoma that occurs when the structure inside the eye that allows fluid to drain normally from the eye becomes restricted). Taking Stalevo (Levodopa Carbidopa Entacapone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Stalevo (Levodopa Carbidopa Entacapone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
