Description

PMS Progesterone (Progesterone) is a hormonal agent. It is typically used by women with an intact uterus (have not had surgery to remove the uterus) who are using estrogen replacement therapy for menopause. It may also have other uses.

PMS Progesterone (Progesterone) is typically taken as 2 or 3 capsules, depending on your case. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer at bedtime. For patients who experience difficulty swallowing the capsules, taking with a full glass of water in the standing position may be beneficial. It can be taken with or without food.
WARNING: This medication should be used only under the supervision of a doctor, with regular follow-up at least once a year to identify side effects associated with its use. Your first follow-up visit should be within 3 to 6 months of starting treatment. Your visit may include a blood pressure check, a breast exam, a Pap smear and pelvic exam. You should have a mammogram before starting treatment and at regular intervals as recommended by your doctor. Your doctor may recommend some blood tests. Progesterone may cause some people to feel dizzy or sleepy, 1-4 hours after ingestion of the capsules. Therefore, before you drive or do anything else that requires alertness, make sure you are not experiencing these side effects.
In addition to its desired action, PMS Progesterone (Progesterone) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause minor vaginal bleeding or spotting
It may cause dizziness or vertigo, sleepiness, aggravation of migraine headaches, headaches or depressive mood, and lightheadedness (feeling faint)
It may cause abdominal discomfort (cramps, pressure, pain), nausea, fatigue, and breast tenderness/swelling.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to progesterone or any component of the formulation, including peanuts/peanut oil, undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding, breast cancer (known, suspected, or history of), thrombosis (formation of a blood clot within a blood vessel) or history of these conditions, active or history of arterial thromboembolic disease (e.g., stroke, heart attack), liver impairment or disease, pregnancy.
Taking PMS Progesterone (Progesterone) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with PMS Progesterone (Progesterone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
