Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Use an oral syringe to measure each dose of the liquid, as it gives a more accurate measurement than household teaspoons. Do not shake the bottle before measuring the dose of medication. Propranolol doses should be separated by at least 9 hours and given with feeds or immediately after the baby feeds to avoid low blood sugar levels. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) impairment. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment. In addition to its desired action, Hemangiol (Propranolol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways), abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, decreased appetite. It may cause nightmares, trouble sleeping, unusual tiredness or weakness, vomiting, skin rash, shortness of breath. Contraindications: If you are allergic to propranolol or any ingredients of the medication, if you are in cardiogenic shock (a life-threatening condition where your heart suddenly stops pumping enough oxygen-rich blood to your body), if you are prone to low blood glucose (sugar) level, if you have a severely slow heart rate, if you have asthma (long-term disease of the lungs) or severe chronic obstructive respiratory diseases, if you have serious heart block (a condition where the heart beats more slowly or with an abnormal rhythm) or sick sinus syndrome (when the heart's natural pacemaker becomes damaged and is no longer able to generate normal heartbeats at the normal rate), infants weighing less than 2.5 kg, premature infants (babies born alive before 37 weeks of pregnancy are completed) who have not reached 5 weeks of corrected age, breastfed infants, if the mother is treated with medicines contraindicated with propranolol (such as epinephrine, general anesthetics).
