Description
Resotran (Prucalopride) is a gastrointestinal agent. It is typically used for the treatment of chronic idiopathic (unknown cause) constipation in adult female patients in whom laxatives (medicines that help resolve constipation) failed to provide adequate relief. It may also have other uses.

Resotran (Prucalopride) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. This medication may be taken with food or on an empty stomach. WARNING: May cause dizziness and fatigue, caution patients about performing tasks that require mental alertness. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment. In addition to its desired action, Resotran (Prucalopride) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea. It may cause headaches, fatigue, decreased appetite. It may cause skin rash, dizziness, fatigue. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to prucalopride or any component of the formulation, intestinal perforation (a hole in the wall of part of the gastrointestinal tract. The gastrointestinal tract includes the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine) or obstruction due to structural or functional disorder of the gut wall, obstructive ileus (lack of movement somewhere in the intestines that leads to a buildup and potential blockage of food material), severe inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. Taking Resotran (Prucalopride) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Resotran (Prucalopride) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Resotran (Prucalopride) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
