Description
Thyroid (Thyroid) is a thyroid product agent. It is typically used as a replacement or supplemental therapy in hypothyroidism (common condition where the thyroid doesn’t create and release enough thyroid hormone into your bloodstream). It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Thyroid (Thyroid)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is usually given once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer on empty stomach. WARNING: Desiccated thyroid may cause blood sugar to increase. High blood sugar may occur, glucose tolerance may change, and diabetes may worsen. If you have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar closely and talk to your doctor about any abnormalities. Starting desiccated thyroid may cause the heart to work harder than usual. For this reason, people with angina or other heart disease should discuss with their doctor how Thyroid (Thyroid) may affect their medical condition, how their medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Thyroid (Thyroid), and whether any special monitoring is needed. Some children may lose some of their hair in the first few months of treatment with thyroid hormone. This is usually a temporary effect and the hair normally grows back over time. In addition to its desired action, Thyroid (Thyroid) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause stomach cramps, alopecia (hair loss), heart arrhythmia (irregular heart beat) and chest pain. It may cause constipation, headache, increased appetite and insomnia (inability to sleep). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to any component of the formulation, untreated thyrotoxicosis (too much thyroid hormone in the blood), uncorrected adrenal insufficiency. Adequate and well-controlled studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy (and there is no evidence of risk in later trimesters). A treatment with Thyroid (Thyroid) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Thyroid (Thyroid)
