Description
Tobrex (Tobramycin) is an antibiotic. It is typically used to treat certain eye infections that are caused by bacteria. It may also have other uses.

Tobrex (Tobramycin) is typically given as 1.25 cm ribbon applied into the conjunctival sac (the inner surface of the eyelid) of the affected eye(s) 2 to 3 times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. To prevent contamination of the ointment container, make sure it does not touch the eye, skin, or other surfaces. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: This medication may cause a temporary blurring of vision. Do not drive or operate machinery until your vision has cleared. Contact lenses should not be worn when treating an eye infection. In addition to its desired action, Tobrex (Tobramycin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause dry eyes, eye redness, itching and swelling of eyelid, and temporarily blurred vision. It may cause increased tearing, metallic taste, and headache. It may cause nausea and stomach upset. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to tobramycin, or any component of the formulation. Taking Tobrex (Tobramycin) during pregnancy may be harmful to the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. If you're planning a pregnancy, become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Tobrex (Tobramycin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
