Description
Polytrim (Trimethoprim Polymyxin B) is a combination of antibiotic agents. It is typically used to treat bacterial infections of the eye. It may also have other uses.

Polytrim (Trimethoprim Polymyxin B) is typically used in the affected eye(s) every 3 hours for 7 to 10 days. Do not use more than 6 doses per day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Wash your hands before and after putting Polytrim (polymyxin B / trimethoprim) drops in your eyes. Don't touch the dropper tip with your eye, hands, or any other surface. This will help you avoid contaminating the solution. WARNING: If redness, irritation, swelling or pain persists or increases, discontinue use immediately and contact your physician. In addition to its desired action, Polytrim (Trimethoprim Polymyxin B) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause eye irritation (redness, burning, stinging, or itching). It may cause hypersensitivity reactions (eyelid swelling, itching, increased redness, tearing, or rash). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to trimethoprim, polymyxin B, or any component of the formulation. Taking Polytrim (Trimethoprim Polymyxin B) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, or breastfeeding contact your family doctor. A treatment with Polytrim (Trimethoprim Polymyxin B) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
