Viibryd (Vilazodone immediate-release)

Viibryd (Vilazodone immediate-release) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take vilazodone with food to get the most benefit from the medication. Swallow the tablets whole with some water, do not crush or chew them.

WARNING: Antidepressants may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in pediatric and young adult patients. Use caution in patients with a high-risk of suicide during initiation of therapy. Vilazodone may increase the risk of bone fractures, especially if you are a senior or have osteoporosis (weakened bones) or other major risk factors for breaking a bone. It may increase the risk of bleeding, especially if you are also taking medications such as acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen, ketoprofen), or warfarin (anticoagulant). Stopping Viibryd (Vilazodone immediate-release) suddenly can cause uncomfortable and possibly dangerous effects, gradually reduce the dose before stopping completely.

In addition to its desired action, Viibryd (Vilazodone immediate-release) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and trouble sleeping.
It may cause new or worsened behavior problems, and sleep paralysis (temporary inability to move or talk when falling asleep or waking up).
It may cause symptoms of serotonin syndrome (e.g., confusion, fast heartbeat, hallucinations, restlessness, shaking, shivering, sudden jerking of muscles, sweating).
It may cause decreased sexual drive, erectile dysfunction, and weight gain. 

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to vilazodone or any component of the formulation, patients with concomitant use of Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (a separate class from other antidepressants). 

Taking Viibryd (Vilazodone immediate-release) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
