Additional information
Shingrix (Zoster Vaccine) is usually given as 0.5 mL administered as a 2-dose series at 0 and 2 to 6 months. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Shingrix (Zoster Vaccine) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. Administer with or without food. WARNING: Immediate treatment for hypersensitivity (severe allergy) reactions should be available during vaccine used. Syncope (fainting) has been reported with use of injectable vaccines and may result in serious secondary injury (e.g., skull fracture, cerebral hemorrhage (brain bleeding)), typically reported in adolescents and young adults and within 15 minutes after vaccination. Procedures should be in place to avoid injuries from falling and to restore cerebral perfusion if syncope (fainting) occurs. Shoulder injury related to vaccine administration (Vaccine administration that is too high on the upper arm may cause shoulder injury resulting in shoulder pain and reduced range of motion following injection). Not for use in the treatment of active zoster symptoms or postherpetic neuralgia (pain after herpes zoster infection). Vaccination with zoster vaccine should be delayed during an acute herpes zoster infection, may administer after acute illness is over and symptoms have resolved. The decision to administer or delay vaccination because of current or recent febrile illness depends on the severity of symptoms and the etiology of the disease. Defer administration in patients with moderate or severe acute illness (with or without fever), vaccination should not be delayed for patients with mild acute illness. Not for use in patients <50 years of age. Zoster vaccine is not a substitute for varicella vaccine and should not be used in children and adolescents. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Shingrix (Zoster Vaccine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause fatigue, pain at the injection site, swelling at injection site and redness at the site of injection. It may cause muscle pain, fever, shivering, pain and stomach adverse effects. Contraindications: Severe hypersensitivity (e.g., anaphylaxis (severe allergy reaction)) to recombinant zoster vaccine or any component of the formulation. Taking Shingrix (Zoster Vaccine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Shingrix (Zoster Vaccine) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Shingrix (Zoster Vaccine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Shingrix (Zoster Vaccine)
