Description

Accupril (Quinapril) is an antihypertensive agent. It is typically used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Accupril (Quinapril) is typically used once or twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. May be administered without regard to food. Quinapril should be taken at approximately the same time every day.

WARNING: This medication can cause injury and death to the developing fetus. Discontinue as soon as possible once pregnancy is detected.

In addition to its desired action, Accupril (Quinapril) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause abdominal pain, back pain
It may cause cough (dry, persistent)
It may cause diarrhea
It may cause difficulty sleeping, dizziness, drowsiness

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to quinapril or any component of the formulation, angioedema (swelling of the lip, eyes, and face) related to previous treatment with an ACE inhibitor (similar agent), concomitant use with aliskiren in patients with diabetes mellitus, concomitant use with neprilysin inhibitor (e.g., sacubitril) or within 36 hours of switching to or from neprilysin inhibitor.

Taking Accupril (Quinapril) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with Accupril (Quinapril) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Accupril (Quinapril)
