Description
Apo Naltrexone (Naltrexone) is an opioid antagonist agent. It is typically used to help individuals who were previously dependent on drugs of addiction (such as alcohol, or opiate drugs such as methadone and heroin) to remain free from their dependence. It may also have other uses.

Apo Naltrexone (Naltrexone) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. May be administered with or without food. Administration with food or after meals may minimize adverse stomach effects. Advise patient not to self-administer opioids while receiving naltrexone therapy. WARNING: Use is not recommended in liver disease. Use with caution in patients with moderate to severe renal (kidney) impairment. You should not drink alcohol while taking Apo Naltrexone (Naltrexone) as this could damage your liver. The use of naltrexone for the treatment of alcohol dependence has only been studied for a dosage regimen of 50 mg once daily for up to 12 weeks. The efficacy of naltrexone beyond 12 weeks in this population is not known. In addition to its desired action, Apo Naltrexone (Naltrexone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause nausea, headache, dizziness, anxiety, tiredness, trouble sleeping, syncope It may cause abdominal pain, change in appetite, vomiting, liver damage, joint stiffness Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to naltrexone or any component of the formulation, current physiological opioid dependence or current use of opioid analgesics, acute opioid withdrawal, failure to pass naloxone challenge (a test performed to assess physical dependence or positive urine screen for opioids) Taking Apo Naltrexone (Naltrexone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Apo Naltrexone (Naltrexone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
