Description
Apo Tryptophan (Tryptophan) is typically used to treat bipolar affective disorder. It works by affecting the levels of certain chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters. It may also have other uses.

The usual recommended adult dose of this medication is 8 g to 12 g daily taken in 3 to 4 equally divided doses with meals or snacks. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: If you have diabetes, your doctor should closely monitor your condition since this medication has an impact on your blood glucose. If you are taking antidepressants, discuss with your doctor how this medication may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of this medication, and whether any special monitoring is needed. In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause anorexia (loss of appetite for food). It may cause dizziness, dry mouth. It may cause headaches, nausea. It may cause constipation. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to tryptophan or any component of the formulation. Taking this medication during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with this medication requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.
