Description

Apo Warfarin (Warfarin) is a blood thinner. It is typically used to treat blood clots and/or to prevent new clots from forming in your body. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Apo Warfarin (Warfarin)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. The dose of warfarin is individualized by your doctor according to blood clotting time. Blood clotting time is determined by a laboratory test, called an INR, which should be performed at regular intervals. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food. Eat a normal, healthy diet. Some foods and beverages, particularly those that contain vitamin K, can affect how warfarin works for you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for a list of foods that contain vitamin K.
WARNING: May cause major or fatal bleeding. Patient must be instructed to report bleeding, accidents, or falls as well as any new or discontinued medications, herbal or alternative products used, or significant changes in smoking or dietary habits.
In addition to its desired action, Apo Warfarin (Warfarin) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause major bleeding, bleeding gums, blood in the urine, bloody stools.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to warfarin or any component of the formulation, hemorrhagic tendencies (bleeding), recent or potential surgery of the eye or brain, major regional lumbar block anesthesia (the procedure “blocks” the nerves, ensuring that you will not feel pain during or immediately after surgery) or traumatic surgery resulting in large, open surfaces, blood dyscrasias (blood disease), malignant hypertension (high blood pressure), pericarditis or pericardial effusion (heart disease), bacterial endocarditis (heart disease), unsupervised patients with conditions associated with a high potential for noncompliance, eclampsia/preeclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy), threatened abortion, pregnancy (except in women with mechanical heart valves at high risk for thromboembolism (clot))
