Description

Aristocort R (Triamcinolone) is a topical corticosteroid agent. It is typically used to treat a variety of skin conditions (e.g., eczema, which is a group of conditions that make your skin inflamed or irritated, but also allergies, rash). It reduces the swelling, itching and redness that can occur in these types of conditions. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Aristocort R (Triamcinolone) is typically used two to four times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. In general, for optimal absorption, apply topical corticosteroids to moist skin immediately after bathing or after wet soaks. Occlusive dressing may be used if instructed by a healthcare professional, it will also enhance drug absorption. For external use only, avoid contact with eyes.
WARNING: Prolonged use may result in fungal or bacterial superinfection (additional infection). Topical use has been associated with local sensitization (redness, irritation), discontinue if sensitization is noted. Children may be more likely to experience the side effects encountered by using large amounts of this class of medication for long periods of time. The use of Aristocort R (Triamcinolone) by children should be limited to the smallest effective amount.
In addition to its desired action, Aristocort R (Triamcinolone) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause skin burning, itching, irritation, dryness. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to triamcinolone or any component of the formulation, skin infection caused by viruses, including herpes simplex, vaccinia, and varicella (chickenpox), tuberculosis of the skin.
Taking Aristocort R (Triamcinolone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Aristocort R (Triamcinolone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Aristocort R (Triamcinolone)
