Atectura Breezhaler (Indacaterol / Mometasone)

Description

Atectura Breezhaler (Indacaterol / Mometasone) is a combination of two medications. It is typically given to treat asthma for adults and adolescents over the age of 12 with reversible obstructive airways disease. It may also have other uses.

Atectura Breezhaler (Indacaterol / Mometasone) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Try to use the inhaler at the same time every day to get the most benefit from it and to help you remember to use it. After inhaling the dose of medication, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out. This reduces the chances of developing oral thrush (a fungal infection). Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist.

WARNING: Atectura is intended as a preventative medication only. Do not use it to relieve difficulty breathing. If you need fast relief from asthma symptoms, use your fast-acting "reliever" (or "rescue") medication such as formoterol, terbutaline, or salbutamol. Long-term use of inhaled corticosteroids has been associated with a decrease in bone density. This may lead to brittle bones or osteoporosis. It may also cause changes in blood sugar levels (may cause a loss of blood glucose control) and glucose tolerance may change. People with diabetes may find it necessary to monitor their blood sugar more frequently while using Atectura Breezhaler (Indacaterol / Mometasone).

In addition to its desired action, Atectura Breezhaler (Indacaterol / Mometasone) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause headaches, itching skin, muscle, bone, and joint pain, and muscle spasms.
It may cause hoarseness or voice changes, pain and irritation in the back of the mouth and throat, and sore throat.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to indacaterol, mometasone, or any component of the formulation.

Taking Atectura Breezhaler (Indacaterol / Mometasone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
