Description
Blephamide (Sulfacetamide Prednisolone) is an ophthalmic agent. It is typically used to treat eye inflammation. It may also have other uses.

Blephamide (Sulfacetamide Prednisolone) is usually given 4 to 6 times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Discontinue at the first sign of serious blood reactions, discontinue at first sign of skin rash. May cause liver problems. Use with caution in patients with severe dry eyes. Use following cataract surgery may delay healing or increase the incidence of a small blister on the skin formation. Contact lenses should not be worn during treatment of ophthalmologic infections. For ophthalmic (eye) use only, not for injection into the eye. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Blephamide (Sulfacetamide Prednisolone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause local irritation, infections, increased intraocular (inside the eye) pressure, and eye perforation. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity or severe allergy to sulfacetamide, prednisolone, other sulfonamides (similar agents) or corticosteroids, or any component of the formulation, viral diseases of the eyes, fungal diseases of the eye, bacterial eye infections. Purulent untreated ocular (eye) infections. Taking Blephamide (Sulfacetamide Prednisolone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Blephamide (Sulfacetamide Prednisolone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
