Description
Clopixol (Zuclopenthixol) is an antipsychotic agent. It is usually used to treat schizophrenia (a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally). It may also have other uses.

Clopixol (Zuclopenthixol)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Clopixol (Zuclopenthixol) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: since sedation is known to occur with zuclopenthixol, patients should be cautioned against performing activities requiring a high degree of mental alertness and physical coordination (such as driving a car or operating machinery) until the effect of the drug is determined. Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular (heart) problems. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems. Use with caution in patients at risk of seizures (a sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain). Use with caution in patients with Parkinsonism (brain disorders). Use with caution in elderly patient. In addition to its desired action, Clopixol (Zuclopenthixol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, depression. It may cause tachycardia (rapid heart rate), shaking or uncontrolled body movements. It may cause constipation, low blood pressure, weight gain, sleep disorders. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to zuclopenthixol, thioxanthenes (similar agents), or any component of the formulation, acute intoxication (a condition associated with drinking too much alcohol in a short amount of time), brain and spinal cord injuries, coma, circulatory collapse (failure of the circulation). Taking Clopixol (Zuclopenthixol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
