Description
Cosopt UD (Dorzolamide Timolol) is an antiglaucoma agent. It is typically used to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma (open angle-type) or other eye diseases (e.g., ocular hypertension). Lowering high pressure inside the eye helps to prevent blindness. This medication works by decreasing the amount of fluid within the eye. It may also have other uses.

Cosopt UD (Dorzolamide Timolol) is typically used in the affected eye(s) two times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. If using additional topical ophthalmic preparations, separate administration by at least 5 minutes. Remove contact lens prior to administration and wait 15 minutes before re-inserting. Avoid allowing the tip of the dispensing container to contact the eye or surrounding structures. Ocular solutions can become contaminated by common bacteria known to cause ocular infections and serious damage to the eye. WARNING: Use caution with history of severe anaphylaxis to allergens (a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction). Hypersensitivity may occur. Discontinue use if signs of hypersensitivity or a serious reaction occur. Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, cardiac problems, liver disease, myasthenia gravis (disease affecting the muscles that move the eyes and eyelids), history of psychiatric illness. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment, not recommended with severe impairment In addition to its desired action, Cosopt UD (Dorzolamide Timolol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause temporary blurred vision, temporary burning/stinging/itching/redness of the eye, watery eyes, dry eyes, feeling as if something is in the eye, sensitivity of eyes to light, strange taste in the mouth, or headache may occur. It may cause hypertension, dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, nausea, urinary tract infection, Influenza Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to dorzolamide, timolol, or any component of the formulation, bronchial asthma or a history of bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (shortness of breath, especially during physical activities, wheezing, chest tightness), bradycardia (low heart rate), cardiac problems (second- or third-degree atrioventricular block, overt cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock) Taking Cosopt UD (Dorzolamide Timolol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Cosopt UD (Dorzolamide Timolol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
