Description
Elahere (Mirvetuximab) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used to treat ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer. These are diseases in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissue covering the ovary or lining the fallopian tube (a pair of tubes along which eggs travel from the ovaries to the uterus) or peritoneum (a sheet of smooth tissue that surrounds your abdominal organs). It may also have other uses.

Elahere (Mirvetuximab) is usually given every three weeks, and is injected in the veins. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. This medication is given as an injection by your healthcare professional. WARNING: It can cause pneumonitis (general inflammation in your lungs that can affect how well you breathe and cause other bodily symptoms). Eye problems are common with Elahere. This medication can cause peripheral neuropathy (when the nerves that are located outside of the brain and spinal cord (peripheral nerves) are damaged). Your healthcare provider should do a pregnancy test before you start treatment. In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause increased liver enzymes in the blood, feeling tired, blurred vision, nausea, diarrhea It may cause decreased red or white blood cell counts, decreased platelets, decreased magnesium level in the blood, dry eye Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to any component of the formulation. Taking this medication during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with this medication requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.
