Description

Epclusa (Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir) is an antiviral agent. It is typically used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (liver infection caused by a virus) by adults and children 3 years of age and older. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Epclusa (Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. May be administered without regard to food.
WARNING: Screen for evidence of current or prior HBV (hepatitis B virus) infection before initiating this treatment. Sofosbuvir - velpatasvir has been found to be a safe and effective treatment for hepatitis C, for people who also have HIV infection. Some of the medications used to treat HIV infection may affect sofosbuvir or velpatasvir and change how these medications work in the body. If you have HIV infection, discuss with your doctor how Epclusa (Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Epclusa (Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir), and whether any special monitoring is needed. The use of Epclusa (Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir) is not recommended for pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, as other medications which must be taken with sofosbuvir - velpatasvir (in particular ribavirin) may cause birth defects or the death of the fetus if it is used during pregnancy. Do not use Epclusa (Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir) if you are pregnant or if your partner is pregnant. Two forms of effective birth control (one for each partner) must be used during treatment and for 6 months after stopping therapy. During this time, women will have monthly pregnancy tests to ensure they are not pregnant.
In addition to its desired action, Epclusa (Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause fatigue, headache, heart problems
It may cause skin rash, low blood iron (anemia), nausea, diarrhea, weakness
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to sofosbuvir, velpatasvir, or any component of the formulation. Taking Epclusa (Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
A treatment with Epclusa (Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Epclusa (Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir)
