Description
Sovaldi (Sofosbuvir) is an antiviral agent. It is typically used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (liver infection caused by a virus) by adults and children 3 years of age and older. It may also have other uses.

Sovaldi (Sofosbuvir) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. May be administered without regard to food. WARNING: Screen for evidence of current or prior HBV (hepatitis B virus) infection before initiating this treatment. The use of Sovaldi (Sofosbuvir) is not recommended for pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, as other medications which must be taken with sofosbuvir (in particular ribavirin) may cause birth defects or the death of the fetus if it is used during pregnancy. Do not use Sovaldi (Sofosbuvir) if you are pregnant or if your partner is pregnant. Two forms of effective birth control (one for each partner) must be used during treatment and for 6 months after stopping therapy. During this time, women will have monthly pregnancy tests to ensure they are not pregnant. In addition to its desired action, Sovaldi (Sofosbuvir) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause fatigue, headache, nausea, insomnia (sleep disorders that can make it hard to fall asleep), itching It may cause anemia, weakness, rash Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to sofosbuvir or any component of the formulation. Taking Sovaldi (Sofosbuvir) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Sovaldi (Sofosbuvir) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
