Description
Fibristal (Ulipristal) is used to treat moderate-to-severe signs and symptoms of uterine fibroids (abnormal growths that develop in or on a woman’s uterus) in adult women who are in their childbearing years. It may also have other uses.

Fibristal (Ulipristal) is taken once daily for a 3-month treatment course. The duration of each treatment course is 3 months. The first tablet is taken at any point during the first 7 days of your menstrual period and continued once daily for 90 days. After finishing a treatment course of 3 months, you should wait to have 1 full menstrual cycle where you are not taking any medication before starting a second treatment course. The second treatment course can be started within the first 7 days of your next menstrual period. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. This medication may be taken with food or on an empty stomach. WARNING: Ulipristal acetate should only be prescribed after careful diagnosis. Effective birth control should be practiced while using Fibristal (Ulipristal) as Fibristal (Ulipristal) may harm the baby if used during pregnancy. Birth control pills may be affected by ulipristal. For this reason, a different method of birth control, such as condoms or a diaphragm should be used. If you become pregnant while taking Fibristal (Ulipristal), contact your doctor immediately. Liver disease or reduced liver function may cause Fibristal (Ulipristal) to build up in the body, causing side effects. If you have liver problems, discuss with your doctor how Fibristal (Ulipristal) may affect your medical condition. In addition to its desired action, Fibristal (Ulipristal) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause acne, constipation, fatigue, hair loss. It may cause headache, hot flushes, nausea, obesity, vaginal discharge. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity or severe allergic reaction to ulipristal or any component of the formulation, genital bleeding that is undiagnosed or caused by a condition other than uterine fibroids, uterine, cervical, ovarian or breast cancer, history of liver disease or active liver disease, pregnancy, breast-feeding. Taking Fibristal (Ulipristal) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method.Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Fibristal (Ulipristal) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
