Description
Imipramine (Imipramine) is an antidepressant. It is typically used for the treatment of major depressive disorder (depression). It may also have other uses.

Imipramine (Imipramine)'s dosage depends on the condition (usual range:25 mg - 300 mg). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. May administer with food to decrease stomach and intestinal distress. WARNING: Antidepressants increase the risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in children, adolescents, and young adults (18 to 24 years of age) with major depressive disorder (depression) and other psychiatric disorders In addition to its desired action, Imipramine (Imipramine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause cardiac arrhythmia (heart rhythm disorder), cardiac failure, cerebrovascular accident (stroke) It may cause agitation, anxiety, ataxia, confusion, delusions, disorientation, dizziness, drowsiness It may cause alopecia (hair loss), diaphoresis (excessive sweating), pruritus (itching), skin photosensitivity, skin rash, urticaria (hives) Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to imipramine or any component of the formulation, acute recovery period after a myocardial infarction (heart attack), use of MAO inhibitors (antidepressants) intended to treat psychiatric disorders (concurrently or within 14 days of discontinuing either imipramine or the MAO inhibitor), initiation in patients receiving linezolid or methylene blue IV. Taking Imipramine (Imipramine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Imipramine (Imipramine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
