Description
Jakavi (Ruxolitinib) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used to treat certain types of myelofibrosis (a type of bone marrow cancer that disrupts your body’s normal production of blood cells) by adults. It may also have other uses.

Jakavi (Ruxolitinib) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take this drug with or without food. WARNING: Jakavi may cause low levels of red blood cells (cells that deliver oxygen to tissues), platelets (platelets help the blood to clot and if there aren't enough, you may bleed more easily) and white blood cells (a part of your immune system that protects your body from infection). A complete blood count must be performed before initiating therapy with Jakafi. Patients should be assessed for the risk of developing serious infections. Active serious infections should have resolved before starting therapy with Jakafi. Physicians should carefully observe patients receiving Jakavi for signs and symptoms of infection and initiate appropriate treatment promptly. In addition to its desired action, Jakavi (Ruxolitinib) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause low blood cell counts, infection, dizziness, headache. It may cause bruising (skin discoloration), increased cholesterol, weight gain. It may cause diarrhea, nausea, shortness of breath. Contraindications: If you are allergic to ruxolitinib or any ingredients of the medication, if you have a history of an illness called progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (a disease of the white matter of the brain, caused by a virus infection). Taking Jakavi (Ruxolitinib) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Jakavi (Ruxolitinib) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
