Description

Jentadueto (Linagliptin Metformin) is an antidiabetic agent.  It is typically used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control or blood sugar levels by adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Jentadueto (Linagliptin Metformin)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is usually given once or twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with food at the same time each day.

WARNING: Lactic acidosis (lactic acid build up in the bloodstream, lactic acid is produced when oxygen levels become low in cells within the areas of the body where metabolism takes place) should be suspected in any patient with diabetes (high blood sugar level) receiving metformin with evidence of acidosis but without evidence of ketoacidosis (a serious complication of diabetes that occurs when your body produces high levels of blood acids called ketones. The condition develops when your body can't produce enough insulin). The risk of accumulation and lactic acidosis increases with the degree of impairment of renal function. Long-term metformin use is associated with vitamin B12 deficiency. Use with caution in elderly. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning.

In addition to its desired action, Jentadueto (Linagliptin Metformin) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause diarrhea, decreased appetite, nausea, pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) and vomiting.
It may cause nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nose and the pharynx), allergic reactions and cough.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to linagliptin, metformin, or any component of the formulation, severe kidney impairment, acute or chronic metabolic acidosis (a condition in which there is too much acid in the body fluids), including diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication of diabetes that occurs when your body produces high levels of blood acids called ketones. The condition develops when your body can't produce enough insulin).

Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with Jentadueto (Linagliptin Metformin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Jentadueto (Linagliptin Metformin)
