Description

Mycamine (Micafungin) is an antifungal agent. It is typically used for the treatment of candidemia (the presence of fungal infection in the blood), acute disseminated candidiasis, Candida peritonitis (fungal infections in the stomach) and abscesses, for the treatment of esophageal candidiasis (fungal infection of the esophageal) and for the prevention of candida infections (fungal infections). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Mycamine (Micafungin)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is usually given once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Mycamine (Micafungin) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. 

WARNING: New-onset or worsening liver function. Severe anaphylactic (allergic) reactions, including shock, have been reported. Injection-site reactions have been reported. increase risk of kidney dysfunction. Change in blood cells count. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning.

In addition to its desired action, Mycamine (Micafungin) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may phlebitis (inflammation of a vein), diarrhea and vomiting.
It may cause anemia (a condition in which you lack enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body's tissues) and abnormal liver function tests.
It may cause kidney problems, skin rash, a high heart rate and fever.

Contraindication Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to micafungin, other echinocandins, or any component of the formulation.

Taking Mycamine (Micafungin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with Mycamine (Micafungin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Mycamine (Micafungin)
