Description
Flagystatin (Metronidazole Nystatin) is an antifungal agent. It is typically used for the treatment of mixed vaginal infection caused by Trichomonas vaginalis (a type parasite) and Candida albicans (a type of fungus). It may also have other uses.

Flagystatin (Metronidazole Nystatin) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. For vaginal use only, one vaginal ovule, inserted deep into the vagina, before bedtime, for 10 consecutive days. When using the vaginal ovule, moisten the ovule under water for a second or two just before inserting into the vagina, this will help it to dissolve more easily. WARNING: This medication may cause confusion or dizziness. Avoid driving or other tasks requiring alertness if the medication affects you in this way. Condoms and diaphragms may be less effective while using Flagystatin. Other methods of birth control should be used while you are taking Flagystatin (Metronidazole Nystatin). Use with caution in patients with liver function. The use of antibiotics and antifungals occasionally results in the overgrowth of organisms that these medications don't kill, such as other bacteria,fungi and organisms. This can cause other infections to develop. Menstrual tampons and soaps with an acid pH should not be used while you are using Flagystatin (Metronidazole Nystatin). These products may promote the growth of fungi, making treatment more difficult. It is important to continue to use Flagystatin (Metronidazole Nystatin) during menstruation to clear up the infection. In addition to its desired action, Flagystatin (Metronidazole Nystatin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headaches, darker urine, loss of appetite. It may cause skin rash, nausea, vomiting. It may cause vaginal discomfort, trouble sleeping. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to metronidazole, nystatin, or any component of the formulation. Combined treatment with oral metronidazole should be avoided in active neurological disorders (diseases of the central nervous system) or in patients with a history of blood dyscrasia (a disease of the blood), hypothyroidism (abnormally low activity of the thyroid gland), or hypoadrenalism (abnormally decreased activity of the adrenal glands). Taking Flagystatin (Metronidazole Nystatin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
