Description
Odan Cyclopentolate (Cyclopentolate) is an ophthalmic examination agent. It is typically used to enlarge the pupil of the eye and to paralyse the lens temporarily. Your doctor or eye specialist may use it to examine your eye more closely. It may also have other uses.

"This medication is usually given as one to two drops before the eye examination. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. WARNING: Remove lenses prior to administration. Use with caution in elderly patients, may be predisposed to increased intraocular (in the eye) pressure. For topical ophthalmic (eye) use only. To minimize absorption, apply pressure over the nasolacrimal sac for 2 to 3 minutes after instillation. May cause a transient increase in intraocular pressure. For topical ophthalmic (eye) use only. In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause blurred vision, increased pressure in the eye, irritation, or redness. It may cause inflammation, prolonged increase in pupil size, sensitivity to light, or swelling. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity or severe allergic reaction to cyclopentolate or any component of the formulation. Known or suspected angle-closure glaucoma (high pressure in the eye), use in pediatric patients <6 years of age. Taking this medication during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor."
