Description
Piperacillin Tazo (Piperacillin Tazobactam) is an antibiotic. It is typically used to treat bacterial infections including intra-abdominal (inside the abdomen) infections, skin infections, lung infections and female pelvic infections (infections of the female reproductive organs). It may also have other uses.

Piperacillin Tazo (Piperacillin Tazobactam)'s dosage depends on the condition (every six or eight hours). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Piperacillin Tazo (Piperacillin Tazobactam) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment or dialysis patients (a process of purifying the blood of a person whose kidneys are not working normally) patients. Serious skin reactions have been reported in patients receiving piperacillin/tazobactam. If patients develop a skin rash they should be monitored closely and piperacillin/tazobactam discontinued if lesions progress. In addition to its desired action, Piperacillin Tazo (Piperacillin Tazobactam) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause diarrhea, fever, vomiting, constipation, rash, nausea, chest pain. It may cause headaches, oral candidiasis, sleep disorders, abdominal pain. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to penicillin, cephalosporins (antibiotics), beta-lactamase inhibitors (antibiotics), or any component of the formulation Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
