Description
PMS Zolmitriptan ODT (Zolmitriptan orally-disintegrating tablet) is an antimigraine agent. It is typically used for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura (sensory disturbances) by adults and pediatric patients ≥12 years. It may also have other uses.

PMS Zolmitriptan ODT (Zolmitriptan orally-disintegrating tablet) is typically used in a single dose of 2.5 mg. If the migraine headache returns, the dose may be repeated after 2 hours. You should not take a total dose of more than 10 mg in any 24-hour period. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. The tablet should be placed on the tongue, where it will dissolve with the saliva. Water is not needed for the dispersible tablet. WARNING: Zolmitriptan may cause an increase in blood pressure. If you have severe or uncontrolled high blood pressure you should not take zolmitriptan. This medication may cause narrowing of the blood vessels that supply the heart. If you have certain risk factors for heart disease (e.g., high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, obesity, diabetes, menopause, men over 40 years of age), tell your doctor. Liver disease or reduced liver function may cause PMS Zolmitriptan ODT (Zolmitriptan orally-disintegrating tablet) to build up in the body, causing side effects. If you have liver problems, discuss with your doctor how PMS Zolmitriptan ODT (Zolmitriptan orally-disintegrating tablet) may affect your medical condition. The use of zolmitriptan by people over the age of 65 years is not recommended. In addition to its desired action, PMS Zolmitriptan ODT (Zolmitriptan orally-disintegrating tablet) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause feeling warm or cold, drowsiness, dry mouth. It may cause nausea, heartburn, sweating, dizziness or faintness. It may cause chest and or throat, neck and jaw pain, slow or difficult speech. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to zolmitriptan or any component of the formulation. Heart diseases, uncontrolled hypertension, concurrent administration of a monoamine oxidase (MAO)-A inhibitor ( a class of antidepressants )or recent use of a MAO-A inhibitor (that is within 2 weeks), recent use (i.e., within 24 hours) of another 5-HT1 agonist (drugs used for the acute treatment of migraine), ergotamine-containing medication, or ergot-type medication (such as dihydroergotamine or methysergide). Taking PMS Zolmitriptan ODT (Zolmitriptan orally-disintegrating tablet) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor. A treatment with PMS Zolmitriptan ODT (Zolmitriptan orally-disintegrating tablet) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
