Description
Revlimid (Lenalidomide) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used to to treat multiple myeloma (a type of cancer of the bone marrow, a soft fatty substance in the cavities of bones, in which blood cells are produced) in people who are not eligible for a stem cell (cells from which all other cells with specialized functions are generated) transplant. It may also have other uses.

Revlimid (Lenalidomide)'s dosage depends on the condition, side effects and the effectiveness of the medication, generally taken for 21 days, stopped for 7 days, and then restarted for 21 days. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. It should be taken at the same time each day and swallowed whole with a glass of water. This medication may be taken with or without food. The capsules should not be broken, chewed, or opened. WARNING: It may cause neutropenia (occurs when you have too few neutrophils, a type of white blood cells, disease-fighting cells) and thrombocytopenia (low blood platelet count, which help blood clot), venous and arterial thromboembolism (blood clots in the veins and arteries), antithrombotic prophylaxis is recommended. It may cause hepatotoxicity (liver damage), including fatal cases In addition to its desired action, Revlimid (Lenalidomide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause back pain, blood pressure changes It may cause bone pain, change in sense of taste It may cause constipation, diarrhea Contraindications: It is contraindicated if you are allergic to Lenalidomide or any ingredients of the medication, are allergic to thalidomide or pomalidomide, are breastfeeding, are or may be pregnant, are male and not able to follow the necessary birth control requirements, if you have low platelet levels or bleeding disorders Taking Revlimid (Lenalidomide) during pregnancy is harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Revlimid (Lenalidomide) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
