Description
SDZ Angiomax (Bivalirudin) is a blood thinner. It is typically used to prevent blood clots in people with severe chest pain or others who are undergoing a procedure called angioplasty (to open blocked arteries). It may also have other uses.

SDZ Angiomax (Bivalirudin)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer SDZ Angiomax (Bivalirudin) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems. Hemorrhage (bleeding) can occur at any site. Discontinue Angiomax for an unexplained fall in blood pressure or hematocrit (a simple blood test done to measure the red blood cells in a person's blood). In addition to its desired action, SDZ Angiomax (Bivalirudin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause hypotension (low blood pressure), headache, pain, bleeding. It may cause nausea, back pain, vomiting, abdominal pain. It may cause insomnia (difficulty falling asleep), pain at injection site, fever. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to bivalirudin or any component of the formulation, active major bleeding. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, or breastfeeding contact your family doctor. A treatment with SDZ Angiomax (Bivalirudin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
