SDZ Levofloxacin (Levofloxacin)

SDZ Levofloxacin (Levofloxacin) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer without regard to meals. Maintain adequate hydration of patient to prevent crystalluria (the presence of crystals in the urine indicating renal irritation). Administer at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, sucralfate, metal cations (e.g., iron), multivitamin preparations with zinc, or didanosine chewable/buffered tablets or the pediatric powder for solution.

WARNING: Adverse effects (e.g., hepatotoxicity (liver damage), tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of the tendon. Tendons are tough bands of tissue that attach your muscles to your bones), QT changes (heart rhythm problems), aortic dissection (heart problems)) may be increased in the elderly.

In addition to its desired action, SDZ Levofloxacin (Levofloxacin) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause chest pain, edema (swelling)
It may cause pruritus (itching), skin rash 
It may cause abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia (indigestion), nausea, vomiting 

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, any component of the formulation, or other quinolones

Taking SDZ Levofloxacin (Levofloxacin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
