SDZ Risperidone (Risperidone)

Description

SDZ Risperidone (Risperidone) is an antipsychotic agent. It is typically used for the treatment of bipolar mania (bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression)) by adults and treatment of schizophrenia (a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally) by adults. It may also have other uses.

SDZ Risperidone (Risperidone) is typically used once or twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. May be administered without regard to meals.

WARNING: May cause anticholinergic effects (confusion, agitation, constipation, xerostomia (dry mouth), blurred vision, urinary retention), use with caution in patients with decreased gastrointestinal motility (abnormal intestinal contractions, such as spasms and intestinal paralysis), urinary retention, BPH (prostate gland enlargement), xerostomia (dry mouth), or visual problems.

In addition to its desired action, SDZ Risperidone (Risperidone) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause constipation, diarrhea
It may cause decreased sexual interest or ability, difficulty sleeping and staying asleep
It may cause dizziness, drowsiness
It may cause headaches

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to risperidone, paliperidone, or any component of the formulation

Taking SDZ Risperidone (Risperidone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
