Description
Sutent (Sunitinib) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used to treat certain types of cancer (kidney, pancreas, and intestinal). It may also have other uses.

Sutent (Sunitinib) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take this drug with or without food. WARNING: This drug may cause hepatotoxicity (liver toxicity) that may be severe and sometimes fatal (causing death). Monitor liver function and interrupt, reduce dose, or discontinue sunitinib as recommended. In addition to its desired action, Sutent (Sunitinib) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause chest pain, high blood pressure, skin discoloration, skin rash, peripheral edema (swelling of the lower legs or hands), depression, headache, cough, liver and kidney problems. It may cause abdominal pain, anorexia (eating disorder characterized by an abnormally low body weight), constipation, decreased appetite, diarrhea, insomnia (difficulty falling asleep). It may cause dry mouth, bleeding, decreased white blood cell (cells of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body against both infectious disease and foreign invaders) and platelet counts (tiny fragments of cells that are essential for normal blood clotting). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to sunitinib or any component of the formulation. Taking Sutent (Sunitinib) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Sutent (Sunitinib) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
