Description
Thyrogen (Thyrotropin Alfa) is a diagnostic agent. It is typically used to help identify thyroid (gland in the neck) disease by testing the blood for a hormone called thyroglobulin in the follow up of patients with a certain type of thyroid cancer. It may also have other uses.

Your doctor or nurse will administer Thyrogen (Thyrotropin Alfa) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with known history of heart disease. Use with caution in patients with kidneys disease. In addition to its desired action, Thyrogen (Thyrotropin Alfa) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headaches, dizziness, fatigue, dry skin, muscles spasms, runny nose, sore throat. It may cause nausea, vomiting, weakness, warmth at the place of injection, sleep disorders. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to thyrotropin alfa or any component of the formulation. Taking Thyrogen (Thyrotropin Alfa) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
