Description

Tobi Podhaler (Tobramycin podhaler) is an antibiotic. It is typically used for people with cystic fibrosis (an inherited disorder that causes severe damage to the lungs, digestive system and other organs in the body) to treat chronic lung infections caused by certain bacteria. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Tobi Podhaler (Tobramycin podhaler) is typically taken as 4 capsules inhaled twice a day for 28 days. The doses should be used as close to 12 hours apart as possible, and no less than 6 hours apart. After 28 days, Tobi Podhaler (Tobramycin podhaler) should be stopped for the next 28 days and then restarted for the next 28 days. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. The contents of the capsules should only be inhaled with the device that is provided and should not be swallowed. If you are using other inhaled medications, Tobi Podhaler (Tobramycin podhaler) should be used last. If you are using a short-acting bronchodilator (e.g., salbutamol), used it 15 to 90 minutes before inhaling Tobi Podhaler (Tobramycin podhaler). Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist.

WARNING: As with other antibiotics, tobramycin inhalation can cause a severe form of diarrhea associated with a condition known as pseudomembranous colitis. Occasionally, inhaled medications may cause the airways to spasm and close up, making breathing even more difficulty (bronchospasm) and can be life-threatening. This medication may cause ear problems that appear as decreased hearing, ringing in the ears, dizziness, spinning sensations, or lack of coordination.

In addition to its desired action, Tobi Podhaler (Tobramycin podhaler) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause change in sputum color, coughing, dry mouth, and taste changes.
It may cause loss of voice, sore throat or mouth, trouble speaking, and voice changes or loss of voice.
It may cause feeling unwell, muscle aches, and runny nose.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to tobramycin, or any component of the formulation.

Taking Tobi Podhaler (Tobramycin podhaler) during pregnancy may be harmful to the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. If you're planning a pregnancy, become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with Tobi Podhaler (Tobramycin podhaler) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Tobi Podhaler (Tobramycin podhaler)
