Description
Toviaz (Fesoterodine) is an antispasmodic agent (drug that relieves or prevents spasms). It is typically used to treat overactive bladder (a frequent and sudden urge to urinate that may be difficulty to control). It may also have other uses.

Toviaz (Fesoterodine) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take this drug with or without food. WARNING: This medication may cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and/or blurred vision, which may impair physical or mental abilities, patients must be cautioned about performing tasks which require mental alertness. Use with caution in patients with controlled narrow-angle glaucoma (a type of eye disease that occurs when the structure inside the eye that allows fluid to drain normally from the eye becomes restricted). Use with caution in patients with myasthenia gravis (weakness and rapid fatigue of any of the muscles under your voluntary control). Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment. In addition to its desired action, Toviaz (Fesoterodine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause xerostomia (dry mouth), skin rash, peripheral edema (swelling of the lower legs or hands), headache, weight gain. It may cause insomnia (difficulty falling asleep), constipation, nausea, abdominal pain, back pain. It may cause urinary tract infection, dysuria (painful or difficult urination), urinary retention (a lack of ability to urinate). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to fesoterodine, tolterodine, or any component of the formulation, urinary retention, gastric (relating to the stomach) retention, uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma. Taking Toviaz (Fesoterodine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Toviaz (Fesoterodine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
