Description
Trikafta (Elexacaftor Tezacaftor Ivacaftor ; Ivacaftor) is a CFTR modulator agent. It is typically used to treat cystic fibrosis (a genetic condition that affects the lungs and digestive system) in patients aged 2 years and older who have certain gene changes (mutations) in the CFTR gene.In cystic fibrosis, thick and sticky mucus builds up in the lungs and other organs, making it hard to breathe and causing other problems. It may also have other uses.

Trikafta (Elexacaftor Tezacaftor Ivacaftor ; Ivacaftor) is usually taken twice daily, but your doctor or pharmacist may suggest a different schedule that is more suitable for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not take more of this product or take it more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. It should be taken with fat-containing food. WARNING: Your healthcare professional may do certain tests before and during your treatment with Trikafta. These tests may check: your lung function, your liver function, your general health In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause upper respiratory tract infection (common cold), flu (influenza), headache It may cause diarrhea, stomach (abdominal) pain, rash Contraindications: Do not use this medication if you have a known allergy (hypersensitivity) to any of its ingredients. Taking this medication during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with this medication requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.
