Description

Tromboject 3% (Tetradecyl Sulfate) is a sclerosing agent. It is typically used to treat varicose veins (swollen and enlarged veins that usually occur on the legs and feet). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Tromboject 3% (Tetradecyl Sulfate)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Tromboject 3% (Tetradecyl Sulfate) to you in a hospital or clinical setting.
WARNING: Use with caution in patients with peripheral arteriosclerosis (a common circulatory problem in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to your limbs) or thromboangiitis obliterans (an inflammation of small- and medium-sized blood vessels). Extra caution should be exercised in patients considered to be at higher risk of thromboembolic events (formation of a blood clot inside a blood vessel).
In addition to its desired action, Tromboject 3% (Tetradecyl Sulfate) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause anaphylaxis (a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction), asthma (a long-term disease of the lungs), skin discoloration. It may cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, blood clots in the treated veins, swelling, pain at the site of injection, infection in the skin.
Contraindications: You should not be treated with Tromboject if you are allergic to it, if you have serious illness, or if you have a serious clotting disorder (disruptions in the body's ability to control blood clotting), allergies, cancer, severe blood infection, or any untreated or uncontrolled disease such as diabetes (disease that occurs when your blood sugar, is too high), overactive thyroid (gland in the neck), tuberculosis (bacterial infection), asthma, a blood cell disorder, or skin disease.
Taking Tromboject 3% (Tetradecyl Sulfate) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
