Tezspire (Tezepelumab)

Description

Tezspire (Tezepelumab) is typically used with other asthma medicines for the maintenance treatment of severe asthma in people 12 years of age and older whose asthma is not controlled with their current asthma medicine. It may also have other uses.

Tezspire (Tezepelumab) is typically given once every 4 weeks as an injection just under the skin (subcutaneously). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Tezspire should not be used to treat sudden breathing problems. It is also not approved for use in children below the age of 12 years. Tezspire may weaken your ability to fight certain types of parasitic infections. Do not use Tezspire (Tezepelumab) unless your healthcare professional tells you to. It is not known if it can harm your unborn baby. Tezspire may pass into breast milk. Your healthcare professional will discuss with you whether you should stop treatment while you are breast- feeding, or if you should stop breast-feeding.
In addition to its desired action, Tezspire (Tezepelumab) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause sore throat (pharyngitis)
It may cause injection site reactions (i.e., redness, swelling, and pain), joint pain (arthralgia), or a rash
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to tezepelumab or any component of the formulation.
Taking Tezspire (Tezepelumab) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Tezspire (Tezepelumab) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
