However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Vraylar belongs to a group of medicines called atypical antipsychotics. These medicines have been linked to a higher rate of death when used in elderly patients with dementia (loss of memory and other mental abilities). It is not to be used if you are elderly and have dementia. You may experience side effects several weeks after starting treatment with Vraylar, or a dose increase. This is due to the fact that it takes a few weeks for the medicine to accumulate in your body. It can also stay in the body for at least 12 weeks after your treatment has stopped. Your healthcare professional will regularly monitor your overall health while you are taking the medicine. In addition to its desired action, Vraylar (Cariprazine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause back or abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, nausea or vomiting. It may cause changes in vision, headaches, feeling tired or sleepy, trouble falling or staying asleep. It may cause excessive sweating, weight gain, changes in appetite (loss or increase), frequent urination. It may cause falls and fractures, feeling agitated, joint pain or stiffness, pain in arms, legs, feet or hands. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to cariprazine or any component of the formulation, if you are taking strong or moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers. Strong or moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors should also not be taken for at least 2 weeks after your treatment with VRAYLAR has stopped. Such medications include "azole" antifungal medications (e.g., itraconazole, ketoconazole), bosentan, carbamazepine, cimetidine, diltiazem, efavirenz, HIV protease inhibitors (e.g., atazanavir, ritonavir, saquinavir), macrolide antibiotics (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin), phenobarbital, phenytoin, rifampin, St. John's wort. Ask your healthcare professional if you are unsure. Taking Vraylar (Cariprazine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product.
