Description

Zelboraf (Vemurafenib) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used to treat melanoma (skin cancer) that has spread to other parts of the body or cannot be removed by surgery. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Zelboraf  (Vemurafenib) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Doses should be administered orally in the morning and evening, ~12 hours apart. May be taken with or without a meal. If vomiting occurs after a dose is taken, do not take an additional dose, continue with the next scheduled dose.
WARNING: Vemurafenib can cause abnormal heart rhythms by affecting the electrical activity of the heart. Certain medications can increase the risk of a type of abnormal heart rhythm called QT prolongation, and should not be used in combination with vemurafenib. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems.
In addition to its desired action, Zelboraf  (Vemurafenib) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause headaches, high blood pressure, peripheral edema (swelling).
It may cause fatigue, skin rash, alopecia (hair loss), back pain, cough.
It may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, weight loss. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to vemurafenib or any component of the formulation. Taking Zelboraf  (Vemurafenib) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
A treatment with Zelboraf  (Vemurafenib) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Zelboraf  (Vemurafenib)
