Description
Lamictal (Lamotrigine) is an anticonvulsant agent. It is typically used to treat certain types of seizures. It may also have other uses.

Lamictal (Lamotrigine) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for your child. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take it with or without food. The tablets may be chewed, dissolved in liquid or swallowed whole. Do not split the chewable tablets. WARNING: Do not suddenly stop LAMICTAL without talking to your healthcare professional first. If you do this, it may cause your child to have more seizures. Stopping the treatment must be a gradual process that you discuss with your doctor. Use with caution in patients with heart disease, hepatic (liver) impairment, dosage adjustment may be required. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment, dosage adjustment may be required. In addition to its desired action, Lamictal (Lamotrigine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause nausea, insomnia, runny nose, headache, diarrhea, abnormal dreams, dizziness or drowsiness. It may cause chest pain, edema (swelling), increased libido, weight gain, weight loss It may cause abdominal pain, constipation, vomiting, dry mouth, infection, pain, back pain, muscle pain, neck pain It may cause visual disturbance, shortness of breath Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to lamotrigine or any component of the formulation A treatment with Lamictal (Lamotrigine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
