Description
Lioresal (Baclofen) is a skeletal muscle relaxant agent. It is typically used for the management of reversible spasticity (a condition in which there is an abnormal increase in muscle tone or stiffness of muscle, which might interfere with movement, speech, or be associated with discomfort or pain) associated with multiple sclerosis (a condition that can affect the brain and spinal cord, causing a wide range of potential symptoms, including problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance) or spinal cord lesions. It may also have other uses.

Lioresal (Baclofen) is typically used three times a day for the management of reversible spasticity (a condition in which there is an abnormal increase in muscle tone or stiffness of muscle, which might interfere with movement, speech, or be associated with discomfort or pain) associated with multiple sclerosis (a condition that can affect the brain and spinal cord, causing a wide range of potential symptoms, including problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance) or spinal cord lesions. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Lioresal (Baclofen) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: May cause acute urinary retention (may be related to underlying disease), use with caution in patients with urinary obstruction. To be used with caution in patients with respiratory, psychiatric, stomach and intestine and kidney diseases. The elderly are more sensitive to the effects of baclofen and are more likely to experience adverse effects at higher doses. In addition to its desired action, Lioresal (Baclofen) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause nausea, vomiting. It may cause headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, confusion. It may cause impotence, depression, tremor, muscle pain. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to baclofen or any component of the formulation Taking Lioresal (Baclofen) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Lioresal (Baclofen) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Lioresal (Baclofen) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
