Description
Rotateq Orale (Rotavirus Vaccine) typically used for the prevention of rotavirus gastroenteritis (inflammation of the stomach and intestine) in infants 6 to 32 weeks of age. It may also have other uses.

Rotateq Orale (Rotavirus Vaccine) is usually given 2 mL per dose for 3 doses, the first dose given at 6 to 12 weeks of age, followed by subsequent doses at 4- to 10-week intervals. Administer all doses by 32 weeks of age. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Rotateq Orale (Rotavirus Vaccine) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. May be administered before or after food, milk, or breast milk WARNING: Use with caution in infants with history of stomach or intestine disorders, acute mild stomach, or intestine illness, chronic (long term) diarrhea, failure to thrive, stomach disorders, and stomach surgery, vaccine may be used with controlled high stomach acidity level. Use with caution in the presence of immunocompromised (low immunity) family members. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Rotateq Orale (Rotavirus Vaccine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause irritability, diarrhea, and vomiting. It may cause otitis media (inflammation of the ear) and flatulence. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to rotavirus vaccine or any component of the formulation, history of uncorrected malformation of the stomach or intestine severe combined immunodeficiency (low immunity) disease Taking Rotateq Orale (Rotavirus Vaccine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Rotateq Orale (Rotavirus Vaccine) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Rotateq Orale (Rotavirus Vaccine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
