Description
Flamazine 1% (Silver Sulfadiazine) is an antibiotic. It is typically used to prevent infection in severe burns. It may be used also for other types of wounds. It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Flamazine 1% (Silver Sulfadiazine) is typically used once to twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. For topical use only, avoid contact with eyes. Apply with a sterile-gloved hand. Burned area should be covered with cream at all times, re-apply to areas where cream has been removed by patient activity. Dressings may be used if necessary. Re-apply immediately after hydrotherapy. WARNING: prolonged use may result in fungal or bacterial superinfection (additional infection). Use with caution in patients with liver impairment, renal (kidney) impairment. In addition to its desired action, Flamazine 1% (Silver Sulfadiazine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, skin rash, increasing pain, burning or itching Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to silver sulfadiazine or any component of the formulation, pregnant women approaching or at term, premature infants or neonates ≤2 months of age. Taking Flamazine 1% (Silver Sulfadiazine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Flamazine 1% (Silver Sulfadiazine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Flamazine 1% (Silver Sulfadiazine)
