Description

Teva Teriparatide (Teriparatide) is an antiosteoporotic agent. It is typically used for the treatment of postmenopausal women with severe osteoporosis (a disease that weakens bones to the point where they break easily) who are at high risk of fracture or who have failed or are intolerant to previous osteoporosis therapy. It may also have other uses.

Teva Teriparatide (Teriparatide) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. It should be administered as a subcutaneous injection into the thigh or abdominal wall.
WARNING: While using Teva Teriparatide (Teriparatide) you will need to have blood and urine tests to make sure your calcium levels are within the normal range. If you experience symptoms of high calcium levels (e.g., nausea, vomiting, constipation, muscle weakness, low energy), contact your doctor immediately.Teriparatide can cause a temporary drop in blood pressure within 4 hours of taking Teva Teriparatide (Teriparatide). If you feel dizzy or lightheaded after the injection, sit down or lie down until you are feeling better. If you have moderately to severely reduced kidney function, discuss with your doctor how Teva Teriparatide (Teriparatide) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Teva Teriparatide (Teriparatide), and whether any special monitoring is needed.
In addition to its desired action, Teva Teriparatide (Teriparatide) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause dizziness, nausea, pain in and around joints, leg cramps, nausea, vomiting, constipation, low energy, or muscle weakness. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to teriparatide or any of its excipients, child or growing adult, bone cancer, or have cancer from other parts of the body that has spread to the bone, prior external beam or implant radiation therapy involving bones, high blood calcium, bone diseases such as hyperparathyroidism and Paget's disease, severe kidney problems, unexplained high alkaline phosphatase levels. Taking Teva Teriparatide (Teriparatide) during pregnancy is harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
