Description

Apo Granisetron (Granisetron) is an antiemetic agent. It is typically used for the management of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, including high dose cisplatin, and radiotherapy, as well as for the prevention and treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Apo Granisetron (Granisetron) is typically used twice a day depending on the potential of your chemotherapy treatment to cause you to vomit and/or have nausea. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It may be taken with or without food. It should be given 1 hour before chemotherapy or radiation. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. Do not crush, break, or chew. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist.

WARNING: Granisetron may cause a rare but potentially fatal reaction called Serotonin Syndrome when it is taken with certain medications. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, confusion, agitation, fast heart rate, shivering or heavy sweating. Be sure to tell your physician about all the medicines you are taking. Use with caution in patients who suffer from liver disease. The dose should be adjusted in case of severe liver disease.

In addition to its desired action, Apo Granisetron (Granisetron) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause constipation, stomach pain, nausea or vomiting.
It may cause headaches, or a feeling of warmness.
It may cause an abnormal heart rhythm condition called “QT prolongation”, causing rapid and chaotic heartbeats.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Granisetron or any ingredient found in the formulation or another medication of the same class of Granisetron. Do not use this product if you are currently taking a medication called Apomorphine, used to treat Parkinson's disease.

Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy, become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with Apo Granisetron (Granisetron) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Apo Granisetron (Granisetron)
